Calibration Benches™
Torque wrenches tighten bolted connections and torque them to keep the structural parts firmly pressed together. To ensure that the torque wrench applies the correct torque, it must be calibrated. This page describes the different calibration devices of Radial Torque.
The RAD calibration systems are accurate calibration benches used worldwide. The accuracy and repeatability of the RAD calibration systems have an excellent reputation in calibration laboratories. The RAD calibration system is specially designed for calibrating RAD (and similar) torque wrenches. It is also possible to calibrate hydraulic torque wrenches.
Why do torque wrenches require calibration?
During calibration, the intended torque of the torque wrench is assessed in comparison to the actual torque it applies. Calibrating torque wrenches is crucial to ensure that bolts and nuts are tightened with the desired amount of torque. Utilizing a calibration device allows a torque wrench to be adjusted to produce accurate torque values, making it suitable for tasks that demand precision bolting.
Small Calibration System
- Torque range: 100 – 9.500 Nm
The RAD Small Calibration System is available in two sizes of which the longer model can be equipped with two transducer sizes depending on the required torque. The calibration values can be read directly from the transducer screen. In addition, the calibration values can be read and stored by connecting the RAD transducer to the supplied tablet using the RAD calibration software.
The RAD calibration system consists of a steel base plate, the transducer, the simulation bolt connection, impact sockets and a tablet with associated (pre-installed) RAD calibration software.

- Up to 2,050 Nm classified up to BS 7882:2008 as Class 1 or better for primary torque range (+/- 0.5% of the reading from 20% to 100% of the full scale)
- From 1,900 Nm to 9,500 Nm classified up to BS 7882:2008 as Class 0.5 or better for primary torque range (+/- 0.25% of the reading from 20% to 100% of the full scale)
Large Calibration System
- Torque range: 2.440 – 24.400 Nm
The Large Calibration System is paired with a 16K or 24K Smart Socket™, and features a rundown fixture designed and produced to accurately calibrate multiplier torque tools.
The calibration values can be read directly from the RAD Smart Socket screen. In addition, the calibration values can be read and stored by linking the RAD Smart Socket to the optional pre-installed Windows tablet using the RAD calibration software.
This fully traceable calibration system, with recognized ISO 17025 certification, is engineered for strength and durability by RAD Torque in Canada.
