E-RAD BLU and B-RAD-S with process control software

Radial Torque Tools B.V. is proud to announce its cooperation with ProSuite®, the software developing company for ProTight™ bolting process control.

Thanks to this collaboration, the E-RAD BLU and the B-RAD-S can work seamlessly with ProTight™, a combination that provides complete control over the tightening process.

The E-RAD BLU and B-RAD-S, when used in combination with ProTight™, guide the user through the required procedure for each bolt, specifying the required torque and/or angle of rotation for every tightening operation. This ensures that each bolt is at the prescribed torque, that bolts are torqued in the correct sequence, and that no bolts can be ‘missed’. In addition, every action is logged in the system so that everything can be found and checked afterwards.

The E-RAD BLU and B-RAD-S can connect to ProTight™ software via the Open Protocol function available in the E-RAD BLU and B-RAD-S menu.

With this option enabled, the MB-RAD and B-RAD-S can exchange data with the ProTight™ program. The ProTight™ software runs on a laptop or Windows equipped tablet (connects through Wi-Fi or LAN). After successful connection of the system, a bolting job can be configured by setting torque/angle pre-sets in the MB-RAD and B-RAD-S. In the ProTight™ program, it is possible to configure the bolting sequence as well as the barcode and to specify the operator For “live” viewing and data logging, a connection to the customers’ network can be configured. All actions are also stored in the customer’s ERP system so that it is always possible to check afterwards how the work has been carried out.

The ProTight™ system provides the user with precise instructions on how and in what sequence the various connections must be tightened using the E-RAD BLU and B-RAD-S, ensuring that all bolted joints are completed according to the specified procedure.

Error free operation

Thanks to this system, the user is guided through every step of the process, minimizing the risk of errors and ensuring that all bolts are tightened to the specified torque.
ProTight™ actively manages the E-RAD BLU and B-RAD-S through the use of a barcode that is scanned before work begins (ProTight™ is supplied with, among other items, a scanner and a barcode label printer). This ensures that the E-RAD BLU and B-RAD-S are always set to the correct preset, while the display provides step-by-step instructions for each bolt, indicating which actions must be performed and in what sequence.
The system also verifies that all bolts have been completed by counting and tracking each bolt throughout the process.

During operation, the user is guided through the process via the display, as well as through visual and audible signals, ensuring that they always know whether the procedure is being carried out correctly.
For example, if a bolt is accidentally skipped or tightened a second time, ProTight™ will alert the operator.

If later this sticker is scanned again, the system will indicate which bolt still has to be tightened before it will print the OK sticker. In this way the system is still flexible and all results are directly visible with the sticker on the final product. Without scanning a correct job, the MB-RAD and B-RAD-S remain disabled by the program so that mistakes are prevented.

The end result is an error-free procedure, as the user is guided step by step through on-screen instructions, supported by audible and visual signals.
An OK label cannot be printed until every step has been completed correctly and the entire procedure has been verified as 100% compliant.
